Perfectly quiet but not isolated
Left on June 4, 2017 for a stay in May 2017
Very easy to find with a sat nav. Communication with the owner was excellent and he was waiting for us when we arrived. They had also put together a welcome pack which was ideal and included a bottle of wine and a few beers. One of our parties was a tea addict, but he settled in for a beer instead! The property itself is spacious, and well maintained as well as being very clean. There is a shaded patio and I could have spent the whole party enjoying the heat and reading my book. There is a supermarket and a train station a short drive away. Otherwise, this is what you would expect from this part of France. One thing to know is that showers are over a bath. This may make them unsuitable for the elderly or infirm. Otherwise, I cannot praise this property enough. The owners are friendly and even took us to collect our car the morning after the wedding we were attending. In summary A ++++++.

Fantastic week with friends
Left on September 25, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We rented both Villa Anglade and Petite Anglade for a week in July, 14 friends and 2 children. We had a really fantastic week! Both houses are spacious and well equipped. The location is simply stunning, lovely rolling countryside a short distance from Montboyer, There are wonderful gardens and the pool areas are perfect. There is a barn with table tennis as well which we made use of! We used the BBQ most nights, it's a lovely setting to sit outside and eat. The location is really close to the small town of Chalais and beautiful village Aubeterre. All in all we had a fantastic week with friends in this beautiful place. It was truly excellent value for money considering the standard of accommodation and setting. We will definitely be back!

Perfect place to rest and relax
Left on September 1, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We have stayed at La Petite Anglade during July for two years now running and on both occasions have had fabulous vacations. After the drive to Montboyer from Caen (5-6 hours) we received a warm welcome from the owners, Frank and Carol who provided us with a lovely welcome pack of food and drinks to get us started. The property and gardens are immaculately maintained and provide everything we need for a relaxing vacation. The bedrooms are spacious, as is the living room and kitchen downstairs, while the patio, expansive lawns and the outdoor swimming pool provide the perfect places to relax. The garden area also has plenty of shaded areas too, for when you need to take a break from the sun. The village of Montboyer is about a mile away, and offers an excellent restaurant (Les Bistrot des Halles) and artisan bakery. The town of Chalais is three miles away and has a good supermarket as well as an excellent weekly street market where wonderful local produce (I recommend trying the local pperetif De Pineau!) Is available.La Petite Anglade is also an excellent base for visiting the wine region (eg St Emillion), the northern Dordogne (towns like Brantome), and the Cognac area. Aubeterre sur Dronne is a short drive away and is Definitive The countryside around Le Petit Anglade is fantastic in the summer months, especially when the sunflower fields are in full bloom. The rolling hills, quiet lanes and immaculately maintained villages also provide excellent places for walking and cycling. This year our extended family also stayed at the other properties (La Villa Anglade and Le Nid) and we found these properties to work really well for a large family reunion. Thanks again to Frank and Carol for being such great hosts and providing us and excellent location for our family vacation. We hope to be back soon!

Fantastic family vacation in picturesque postcard surroundings
Left on August 28, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

Traveled from UK to Montboyer via Car.Very easy and nice tip down to Le Nid. We were greeted at the house by the owner Frank and Carol who had left a much appreciated welcome pack of wine, bread and cheese which was a great start to our vacation. Grounds House and the (enclosed) pools were extremely well maintained, clean and safe (as our children are both under 3). The evenings were very enjoyable as great barbecue was provided where we could relax on our peaceful patio. The surroundings had beautiful walks with views of the sunflower fields. The local towns were extremely close with large markets.

A week of tranquility in a preserved area of France
Left on August 26, 2016 for a stay in August 2016

My family and I had a fantastic week at Villa Anglade, MontBoyer in mid August. After spending the previous 10 days touring France, we arrived MontBoyer to a warm welcome from the owners, Frank and Carol. They got us settled in and gave us some great tips about the area. Additionally, they had prepared a very generous welcome pack, providing us with just about everything we needed for the first day or two, until we got to explore the area. The villa is a beautiful building that is well equipped and nicely furnished. Around the villa is a large swimming pool and lovely gardens - ideal if you want sun and a swim or shade and a glass of wine! it is in a very peaceful location with lovely views and some lovely walks leading into the local town. The region has a lot to do, with a number of beautiful towns and beautiful countryside. We have two children (9 and 16) and a dog and have found more than enough to keep everyone busy. Although the local town is very quiet - just a very good restaurant and bakery, there are a few more shops and supermarkets in the surrounding towns, about 5 km away.It really offers the choice of whether you just want to relax in peaceful surroundings or go out exploring and be a little more active. A big thank you to our hosts who helped us enjoy our week immensely and seemed to know exactly how to handle their guests - if we needed something they were there, without us feeling pressured into our stay anyway . Their communication up to our visit was also very responsive and helpful. I highly recommend this villa and the area

Great experience in a large villa in the French countryside.

We stayed at Villa Anglade for 5 days at the beginning of September. It is located in an extremely scenic location with incredible views. You are very well taken care of with a very generous welcome pack and lovely owners. The villa itself is beautiful - the photos do not do it justice, a very good size, with a barbecue and a pool.My friends and I had such a lovely vacation and would definitely recommend Il. We are all in our early twenties and really enjoyed the break in the beautiful French Countryside

A comfortable and spacious house, beautiful pool, beautiful surroundings.
Left on August 10, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We have just returned from two weeks staying at Villa Anglade and had the most relaxing holiday. We were lucky enough with the weather, after promising my daughters (ages 17.15 and 13) that we would not force them to go on outings unless it was below 25 degrees we had to not spend a few days by the pool! The pool was the attraction for us, it was lovely to have one for ourselves and it is a real sun trap with lounge chairs but not much shade. It is not right next to the house that you can work from the aerial photos, but it was not a problem for us.it's a nice size and goes from 1m in the shallow end to 2m in the deep end with a fairly steep incline and a ledge all around the edge to stand on. Mosquitoes Not a problem, but there were a lot of flies. The house is very spacious and cool on hot days, all bedrooms had electric fans but we didn't find it that hot at night. The patio is shaded and there is a gas barbecue which we used quite a lot! The double bedrooms are really big enough but the twin bedrooms have less space and the two bathrooms are both a good size, the downstairs one has the washing machine in it. The living space is all open plan with comfortable sofas, a good sized dining table and plenty of kitchen cabinets. The tv has all basic english channels and a dvd player too and there is wifi but it comes and goes a bit!The small cluster of houses is surrounded by fields of sunflowers and sweet corn, the road only leads to two more houses before it goes so very peaceful, but only a three minute drive to the village where it is there is a bakery (with slightly erratic opening hours!) and a good, friendly restaurant which offers a fixed menu at 16 euros as well as salads, pizzas or burgers. A little further down the road is Chalais where you will find a good supermarket and a fantastic street market on Monday mornings. We visited Aubeterre on one of the not so hot days which was very pleasant, also Angoulême, Cognac, La Rochefoucauld and Bordeaux, but most of the days were spent relaxing in the house, the garden or by the sea. swimming pool. Frank and Carol were very friendly, welcoming and helpful, even booking a table for us at the local restaurant for the night we arrived, and we became especially fond of Suzy, their little Jack Russell, who kept jumping to visit us !All in all, a great place to stay if you are looking for peace, quiet and relaxation :)

A superb vacation experience, and I wish we had booked two weeks rather than one!

Recently spent a week at La Petite Anglade, and had a fabulous time. Very easy to find, we were amazed at the beautiful countryside setting, top notch accommodation and the sheer size. Quite different from a caravan vacation where the five of us (three children, ages 15, 12 and 10) were locked in a tin can, rubbing shoulders with hordes in the clubhouse - this spacious rural villa is excellent value for money and the way forward for us now! There are four full size bedrooms, and a very large downstairs, well equipped kitchen, and spacious living room. We received a very warm welcome including a delicious package of food and drink to start us off.Frank was out every morning clearing the pool, even in the rain, and was on hand to offer tips for shopping to visit, restaurants to savor and sites to see. A car is a must, but the site is in a good location, with Chalais a short drive away and with everything you might need including a farmer's market. We visited several sites with some beautiful preserved old villages, with Aubeterre not too far away and Cognac less than an hour away. We have saved a few places for next time! Although early in the season we did manage to make heavy use of the pool, and the weather picked up later in the week to allow plenty of lounging by the pool or just on the patio. Much more relaxing than the previous vacation, the only downside was that we booked a week instead of two, but hopefully we will fix that next year! A superb vacation experience, and we highly recommend this to anyone.

What a beautiful trip! We stayed at Langlade for a week in September and absolutely loved the rural French experience! As a group of visiting friends we enjoyed a lot of reading and sunbathing beside the prestine pool during the day and a glass of wine in the sun with our barbecue in the evening. It really was an amazing way to relax and unwind! The properties were well equipped, spacious and immaculatley clean. And we were greeted with a very generous package with much more than the basics to get us started before hitting the local intermarche. There is plenty to do in the surroundnig region with local markets, wonderful restaurants, live music at the local watering hole and many beautiful villages nearby such as Aubeterre-sur-Dronne where the monolithic church is worth seeing. detour.Frank and Carol were the perfect hosts, very friendly and happy to provide information about the area to make sure we had a truly memorable vacation. September was the perfect time of year for us to go, although the sunflowers had started to drop their heads the temperature was just below 30 degrees, perfect for our party who were more acclimated to the summer dreich than we were getting in Scotland! We're already talking about planning a return trip!

First of all, we don't actually write reviews, we've never written one before. However every time again you stumble upon something / someone going "the extra mile". This is true with the hosts at Villa Anglade who have found that perfect balance of being there when you need advice while respecting your privacy at the same time - Thanks Frank! The villa is indeed finished to a very high standard with plenty of space and modern amenities with a wonderful large garden offering welcome shade, with good parking, splendid

We spent a wonderful week with the family in this superb estate. The owners are charming and very welcoming while resting very discreet. The houses are magnificent, we had rented the 3 for 20 people and took advantage of the superb park and the swimming pool. Pétanque and ping-pong punctuate our days before the aperitif and barbecue meals. A great week, it is likely that we will be back! Wow, what an enjoyable week. 8 of us comfortably stayed at Villa Anglade, but I can guarantee that the other 2 villas are equally well equipped. The owners Frank & Carole were very welcoming and more than happy to help with reservations and provide advice on the surrounding area. The peace and quiet, not to mention the fabulous pool and surroundings will definitely bring us back.

Our 2 week stay here was wonderful! The house was perfect, lovely rooms, beautiful garden and the pool was awesome especially as our 2 year old grandson was not able to get to the pool unaided as there was a fence all around . Frank and Carol the owners were very friendly and provided us with an exceptional welcome pack as well as advice if we needed it on the area. Frank also kept the pool clean for everyday use too. Our 2 weeks went way too fast and we really don't want to go home !! We will definitely come back in the future. You will not be disappointed if you choose this for your vacation. Julie and Chris

We had 3 wonderful vacations in Langlade, staying in the two houses at different times in June and September. The houses are perfect for a family vacation; house of the house and provide all the amenities including cots and high chairs, washing machines, dishwashers, etc. The properties are very well maintained and spotlessly clean. There are 2 swimming pools which are meticulously maintained and well secured with gates, which suited our small child. Each property has an outside barbecue area which was great for us to eat on the patios in the evenings while junior was in bed. Carol and Frank are very welcoming and will provide you with a helpful guide and advice on getting around / local sightseeing and restaurants. In particular, Frank will organize a table for you at the local castle which is offering superb food at an incredible good value (compared to Dublin!). Book in advance as the Chateau is busy in high season. The rolling countryside is beautiful and ideal for walking and you can stop in small villages for a farm lunch - a taste of real French country life. Frank will lend you bikes if you want to cycle around the area. Aubetere is a charming village about a 10 minute drive away and has a number of good restaurants. There is a great atmosphere in the town square on Saturdays and Sundays when some of the restaurants set up tables and chairs outside. On each public holiday we spent a day in St Emilion which is only an hour away by car - and is not to be missed. Likewise, Cognac and Bordeaux are also quite close for day trips. There is also a Friday market in Riberac (15 mins drive) with a very good selection of local foods for picnics and BBQs. We highly recommend this location and the properties for an unforgettable vacation and look forward to returning during 2008.

We had several fantastic family vacations in Langlade staying at both houses at different times. Both houses are extremely well maintained and had everything you would need for a relaxing vacation. The property was very clean and the grounds were well maintained, having a swimming pool was an added bonus.Frankand Carol are great hosts and on hand to give any help they can to make your vacation enjoyable. We found plently to do in the surrounding area, visiting the local Chalis or Riberac markets or further afield. Lots of walks nearby especially after harvest, there are many restaurants one of our favorites was at the castle and the pub down the road has some lovely pizzas. The properties are close to supermarkets and other stores with Angouleme only 40 minutes away and Bordeaux approximately 80 minutes by car. The first time we stayed at Langlade the kids were 14 and 11, last year they were with us and they were 24 and 21 and there was still plenty for them to do.
